Flicka Lives Up to My Friend Flicka

My Friend Flicka.jpgEast–Book: My Friend FLicka

Review: MUST READ CLASSIC

Snapshot: “If you haven’t read this story of a boy who can’t do anything right, then you’re probably in the minority. This is more the classic coming-of-age story than a “horse story” and has always been a MUST READ.”

THE PRESTIGE: Film or Book, West or East

The Prestige.jpgEAST–Book: The Prestige

Review: EXCELLENT READ

Snapshot: “A clever, gothic and original read focused on shame and obsession.”

SIBLING CONNECTION: The movie captures the spectacle and gothic flavor of this special and original book, but fails to bring alive the complex characters and themes of Priest’s novel. The book is memorable. The movie is stimulating but will likely be forgotten.

Review: GOOD SEE

Snapshot: “A trip into obsession that fails to possess audiences and doesn’t live up to the uniquely gothic novel that inpsired the journey.” Full Review.

OVERALL: Book 9 out of 10, Film 7 out of 10.
