Ag Gore Shares in Nobel Prize For Raising Enviornmental Consciousness

Global%20Warming.jpgAlbert Gore, former US Vice President, is to share the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, as a nod to his influential books and movie — a testament to his hard work and to the collective influence of both films and books.

Gore’s bestselling An Inconvenient Truth, also a movie, was not Gore’s first stab at educating the public on important environmental issues. In 1992 Gore’s title Earth in the Balance was published by Houghton Mifflin and in 2008 he will release The Path to Survival.

The Award was in honor of his work in making the world aware of climate change issues. His film An Inconvenient Truth won the academy award this year. 800,000 books are already in-print and Gore’s publisher Rodale has decided to go back to the press with special “award” stickers.

The Film — An Inconvenient Truth
The film, released by Paramount Vantage, drew $49 million in worldwide box offices, documenting his decades-long mission to educate people on issues such as global warming.

The movie is anecdotally credited with improving their environmental consciousness and measurably contributed to awareness of recycling, hybrid cards and alternate power.
