Screen Actors Guild awards repeat Golden Globes in many categories

Audience favourites Avatar and Up in the Air shut out
Jeff Bridges won the Screen Actors Guild award for best actor for his portrayal of a seedy, aging country musician in the movie Crazy Heart. Sandra Bullock took the award for best actress as the real-life mother of a boy who goes on to become an NFL player in The Blind Side. Both actors won Golden Globes for their roles just a week earlier.
In the best supporting actor category, Christopher Waltz also repeated his Golden Globe win with the SAG award for his role as a Nazi in Inglourious Basterds. The film’s cast also took an award for best ensemble performance. Mo’Nique’s portrayal of the abusive mother in Precious earned her the SAG for best supporting actress, another repeat of the Golden Globes.
SAG awards for TV went to the cast of Mad Men, the hit show about Madison Avenue in the 1960s. This was the second year Mad Men has won the award for best drama series ensemble. Best comedy series ensemble went to Glee, a Fox TV show about a high school singing club.
Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey won best actor and actress in a comedy for 30 Rock, a repeat of last year’s win for both of them.
Best actor in a drama went to Michael C Hall of Dexter. Julianna Margulies won for The Good Wife.
Kevin Bacon won as best actor in a movie or miniseries for the drama Taking Chance; Drew Barrymore was honoured for Grey Gardens, a drama about reclusive relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
A lifetime achievement award was given to Betty White, 88, whose work includes The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls.
